Music Theory
Music Theory Classes in Henderson, NV
The study of music harmony helps us to understand the effect that certain notes have when played together. Students will begin to form their own preferences for harmonic combinations that may particularly resonate with them or combinations that they might even dislike and will choose to avoid when writing their own music.
How did Chopin make this piece sound sad? What did Rachmaninoff do to make this piece sound so intense? How did Haydn make this piece sound so delicate and pretty? These are all wonderful questions that are answered in the study of music harmony.
The Renaissance Music Academy Difference
Our curriculum includes weekly music theory lessons, eventually building to a comprehensive study in music harmony and composition. We are the only music school in Nevada that offers music theory outside of a student’s regular private lesson. We have found that teaching theory in a classroom setting helps the material to be absorbed more readily, and allows there to be more active playing time in private lessons where students can focus on technique and performance.
